A trip to Jutland to visit Sofie's grandparents and Christmas is near ...

When Sofie turned 3 months we stayed with her grandparents in Jutland for 5 days as Hans was at a meeting to assess applications for funding from the Danish Medical Council. It was a relaxing week and nice catching up as the last time Sofie saw her grandparents she was only 4 weeks old!

Sofie created a hand-/footprint for grandma/pa ........

Sofie loves hearing people sing and in this photo she is enjoying a song and dance with grandma.

Aunt Jette, Uncle Ole and cousins Daniel and Oliver visited for Saturday brunch and in this photo they are all having a good laugh with Sofie.

A close up of Jette and Sofie.

More laughing .....

Sofie looks more and more like her dad!!

A diaper change and more laughs!

At 3 months of age Sofie started her immunisation program with two shots (one in each thigh) for Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, hib, hepatitis B, pneumococcal and rotavirus. She took the shots surprisingly well with only a little fever in the evening. In this photo notice her red cheeks and the tape on her thighs.

This year will be Sofie's first Christmas and even though she doesn't really understand the concept of presents she has a great present calender made by her grandparents. Her first present was a lovely blanket made by grandma which she is wrapped in her.

In this photo Sofie is holding her next present ............

Sofie's first underwater dive

This week Sofie had her first underwater dive. She didn't seem to mind at all and dived three times! Check out the photos and video below.

As always the lesson started with a song and then we all got our babies used to the water by floating around on their bellies while we stayed low in the water and kept eye contact with them.

Sofie started falling asleep so a kiss from mum woke her up!

The next exercise is practiced to help babies get used to floating on their own. Each parent holds their baby with a hand around each thigh and a thumb firmly on the babies back. Then they both float around. This is quite a difficult exercise for Sofie as she can't fully hold her own head yet. But she did well.

A close-up of Sofie sitting in water.

Sofie's first dive.

A snapshot during the third dive. Note the open eyes and airbubbles our of her nose. What a diver!

This is Sofie after a dive with lots of water in her eyes - no wonder with the open eyes in the chlorinated water!

Sofie was very pleased that her dad was with us!!

After the lesson Sofie showed her dad how clever she now was at floating on her back.

Then it was time to go home. This is a funny photo of us under and over the water. Due to water distortion her legs look even chubbier!!!!!

This weekend we also tested the pulling system for the Chariot which we are going to use with skies on our New Year vacation in Norway. It works great and Sofie loved the rocking!

Trying out Hans' Nikon D300 ........

I am quite tired of the poor quality shots I've been taking with our small Canon so I tried taking a few shots of Sofie with Han's Nikon D300. What a difference it made ........ maybe I should try using my own Nikon D50 more often!! Anyway our Buddha baby is looking good in these portraits.

Sofie in a diaper .........

..... and a closer view.

Sofie in a bear suit.

I also took the camera along to my latest mother group meeting to take some close-ups of Albert, Natasha and Sofie.
Natasha practicing head lifts on the sofa.

Albert with his mum, Anne-Dorthe.

We wanted to get a photo of all three babies and thus placed them on a mat. It was like watching a bag of worms!! But surprisingly they all stayed quite content while we admired them, laughed at them and photographed them for almost 15 minutes.

A closer look at all three of them. Left to right: Sofie, Albert and Natasha.

Albert seemed to enjoy lying between two girls and in this photo he is giving Natasha a nudge of encouragement.

...... and in this photo Sofie is getting the nudge.

A close-up of Sofie.

Natasha finally got fed up with Alberts nudging and needed a few kind words from her mum (Rebecca).

Then it was time to go home .....

Sofie trying out her new toys ......... the socks and bangles have butterflies on them that are filled with cellophane. These crinkle when she moves her hands and feet and are thus designed to help her discover her feet and hands.

Sofie's room has now been personalized!!

After her swimming lesson this week Sofie was so thirsty/hungry that she latched onto her mum's chin.

Weeks 9½ - 10½ .........

This weekend was relatively quiet ......... daylight savings have ended and days are getting shorter. Sofie is growing very quickly and below are a few photos taken of her when she was 9½-10½ weeks old.

After many attempts we finally succeeded in taking a passport photo of Sofie so she will soon be ready for her many international travels. We think she looks really cute. Her first trip has just been booked this weekend. Its a 7 day skiing trip with us in Beitostolen, Norway where we'll be celebrating the New Year just after Christmas. We'll be staying at a Radisson SAS resort so it should be fun! After that she can look forward to an even bigger 3 month international vacation with us to visit the relatives and climb in Australia.

We bought Sofie's Cougar I from ABC kids in Copenhagen. It's very versatile and by attaching different wheels it functions as her pram, jogger, cycle trailer and as can be seen in this photo it can also be used when skiing!!

We have hung a climbing carabine onto Sofie's activity mat and we were both pleased to see her pulling herself up with the help of the carabine. She has lots of good climbing genes in her blood.

Sofie loves checking herself out in the mirror. This photo is her reflection .......... Hans found out today that her own image can stop even the worst of her tears.

Sofie on a wonderful patchwork blanket handmade by a girlfriend ........ the elephant beside her is also one of her newest presents. When she is older she will be able to play tunes on its trumpet.

At 10½ weeks of age we are really beginning to notice lots of changes in Sofie and she seems more and more alert. In this photo she looks directly into the camera when I call her name.

Sofie practicing her head lifts ..... she is getting stronger

An early morning smile ....
