Sofie's first week at home

After spending two wonderful days resting at Hvidovre Hospital after the birth we were ready to go home. We were much less nervous than we anticipated. Sofie is a wonderful baby and good at eating, sleeping and filling her diaper! Most nights we get away with only having to get up once which we both really appreciate. Sofie's first week at home was filled with exciting visits from family, friends and the nurse and lots of lessons for us. We also visited the hospital for a blood & hearing test, watched Hans swim the Christiansborg Open water 2 km race and took her to her first party!!

Two lovely bouquets of flowers for mother and daughter from climbing friend Sune and his wife Mette.

When Sofie turned 1 week old we got a visit from a nurse who checked out her reflexes, symmetry and general well being. She was also weighed using a diaper and digital scales (you can see her foot sticking out of the diaper). Luckily it looks like my milk is 'working' and after only 1 week little Sofie now weighs 3400 g which was a weight increase of 156g since birth. Well done considering most infants lose weight during their first week.
